Be My Valentine!

It seems Valentine's Day was more special for me when I was a child than it is now. I remember the excitement of making our own mailboxes and taping them to the sides of our desks for the BIG DAY.

When the day came, we'd walk around the room playing mail carrier, delivering Valentines to everyone's mailbox. I think there was a rule that if you participated you had to give everyone a Valentine, not just a special few people. That way no one felt left out.

I kept my Valentines for many years until at some point when I was a teenager I decided they weren't cool anymore, so I threw them out. I wish I still had them. :/

that was a cool idea, making little mailboxes. I can't remember how the cards got to my desk... I think it was just some big mess!

I remember making mailboxes as well and having to include everyone.
a great rule: NEVER throw anything away! (unfortunately, that's not realistic)

We had the same rule about including everyone.
And I'm with you...Valentine's Day just seemed more exciting when I was little!

Thanks for participating in the Blog Carnival. I remember that we had a large decorated box with a slot on the teacher's desk, and that's where everyone dropped their valentines for their classmates. I think the teacher then had a helper pass them out.

You need to do something fabulous for yourself on Valentine's Day. I always buy myself something non-fattening. This year, I bought an electronic scale from the post office. (There is little chance that I will eat that!)

Nice V-day post. Isn't it funny how things that didn't seem important when we're younger become important later in life?
